There is a lot to be said about choosing the right grill. There are a few questions that you should answer before purchasing a grill. I have listed some things to take into consideration below that can act as a guide to purchasing the right grill for you.

  • Fuel Type
What will you be using as fuel. There are many different types of fuel to consider when shopping for a grill.
    • propane
    • natural gas (a grill hooked up to your home's natural gas supply)
    • charcoal
    • electricity
    • wood pellet fuel
  • Grill Size
What size grill do you need? Grills are measured in square inches of the cooking surface. There is quite a range in size. It is best to figure out who you will be cooking for. How many people will you be grilling for? How often will you be grilling for the neighborhood, or hosting a party? How many people are in your family?
  • Grill Features
There are a lot of features to consider when your are buying a grill. Especially gas grills! Here are a few features you may want to consider:
    • infrared burners
    • a back burner
    • rotisserie
    • smoker box
    • meat thermometer
  • The Look of the Grill
Obviously performance is more important than this, but what is you style? Do you want a stainless steel grill on a cart? Charcoal grill that is built into your outdoor kitchen?
  • Budget
How much are you willing to spend on a grill? Grills can range from a few hundred dollars to over $5,000. What's your budget?
  • Location
Where will you be grilling? Is this grill for a beautiful outdoor kitchen? Or are you trying to grill on the third floor balcony of an apartment building?
